The House select committee investigating the January 6 attacks heard testimony from officers caught in rioting that day, with one telling legislators during the July 27 hearing that he suffered racial insults.

Speaking from prepared remarks, Capitol police officer Harry Dunn said that he received a “torrent of racial epithets” after he told rioters that he had voted for Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election.

“One woman in a pink MAGA shirt yelled, ‘You hear that, guys? This n***** voted for Joe Biden,’” Dunn told lawmakers. “Then the crowd, perhaps around 20 people, joined in screaming, ’Boo, fucking n*****.”

Dunn said that other black members of law enforcement later told him they had also received racial abuse on January 6.

Also scheduled to testify on July 27 were Aquilino Gonell, of the Capitol police, and two Metropolitan Police Department officers, Michael Fanone and Daniel Hodges. Credit: CSPAN via Storyful
