Captains hang on for 3-1 win at Fort Wayne
Apr. 11—The proceedings got tedious in the ninth for the Captains, but they were able to hang on for a 3-1 victory April 11 over the TinCaps in Fort Wayne.
Reliever Tyler Thornton yielded a two-out double by Justin Farmer, bringing the tying run to the plate in the TinCaps' Juan Zabala. But Thornton struck out Zabala to end the game and notch his second save.
Josh Wolf (2-0) earned the win for Lake County. He tossed 2 2/3 shutout innings, allowing one hit, walking none and striking out four. Lenny Torres Jr. fanned three in 1 2/3 innings for his first hold.
Joe Lampe paced the offensive charge for the Captains, going 3-for-4 with a double, run, RBI and steal.
Milan Tolentino and Micael Ramirez also had RBI.
The teams continue their series throughout the week, including a 6:35 p.m. tilt April 12 at Parkview Field.
