Car crashes into North Miami church, killing one and injuring four others in car

A car slammed into a North Miami church, killing one person and injuring four Saturday morning.

At around 2 a.m., North Miami police were called to a car crash at 13995 W. Dixie Highway, site of a small church. When officers arrived, people inside the car were either trying to climb out of broken windows or being helped by bystanders.

There were five people in the car, and it is not clear who was behind the wheel, said North Miami Commander Kessler Brooks. Four of the occupants were taken to Aventura Hospital and Medical Center, while the fifth person was taken to North Shore Medical Center.

One of the five died, but police were unable to say who it was or where he or she died. Police are still investigating the crash to see if any charges will be filed.

WSVN 7 News reported that the car crashed into the back wall of a church. The station spoke to a woman, Kiashy Andre, nearby who called 911 after she heard the crash and saw the victims bleeding.

“I called them twice just to make sure they came, ’cause it looked like they were really hurt badly, and they could’ve died,” Andre told the station. “So, like, two girls, they were hurt pretty bad, and one of the guys, he had blood gushing out.”
