Car crashes into restaurant in Mystic, several people injured

A car crashed into the front wall of a restaurant in Mystic, injuring several people on Sunday afternoon, according to the Groton Police Department.

Police received several 911 calls reporting that a car crashed into the Somewhere in Time Restaurant at 3175 Gold Star Highway just after 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Responders found a vehicle had driven through the front wall of the building and was stopped in the dining area of the restaurant.

There were several injuries reported on the scene. All of the people were either treated on-site or transported to the hospital.

“As many of you know a car drove into the restaurant today,” the restaurant wrote on its Facebook on Sunday. “We will be closed until further notice. Hopefully, we will be up and running by the weekend. We thank you all for your kind words and support.”

Members of the Groton Police Department, Old Mystic Fire Department, Mystic Fire Department, L&M Paramedic, Mystic River Ambulance, Stonington Ambulance, Groton Ambulance and North Stonington Ambulance all responded to the scene.

Police said no law enforcement actions have been taken at this time. The accident is under investigation by the Groton Police Department’s Patrol Division.
