Car Cruise, BBQ To Support United Way Coronavirus Relief Fund

MONTGOMERY, IL — Residents in the Montgomery area can hop in their cars and join a cruise Wednesday night to help raise money for the Fox Valley United Way’s Coronavirus Relief and Recovery Fund.

Blain’s Farm and Fleet of Montgomery will host the cruise event from 5-7 p.m., though organizers are asking people to show up by 4:45 p.m. to register their cars.

Anyone can participate in the cruise night event, regardless of vehicle type, and there is no registration fee.

The event will include a drive-thru barbecue fundraiser, with proceeds set to benefit the Fox Valley United Way’s partners that need help to continue providing social services amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Families can order dinners for $15 each and choose barbecue pork chops, chicken or a combination. Residents can also purchase dinners to be donated to first responders and workers at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora. Meals will be provided by 5-B's Catering Service.

“As the pandemic continues, our nonprofit agencies throughout Kane and Kendall (counties) continue to address needs identified by our area residents," said Trish Rooney, who serves as the director of childhood initiatives. “Fox Valley United Way is committed to supporting our non-profit organizations and residents during these unprecedented times.”

As of Monday, the Fox Valley United Way's Coronavirus Relief and Recovery Fund has raised nearly 75 percent of its $600,000 goal.
