New car description provides hope in Apex man’s murder

APEX, N.C. (WNCN) — Police released new information Thursday on a car that could have been involved in the murder of an Apex man.
Randy Miller was stabbed to death around 5:40 a.m. on Aug. 29, 2022 in Atlantic Beach. He was preparing for a day of doing what he loved most – fishing.
More than a year later, there are no arrests or suspects identified in the case. Sue Miller, Randy’s wife tells CBS 17’s Judith Retana that in some ways she’s been discouraged about the lack of leads or progress in the case.

Atlantic Beach police announced a new vehicle description in the case. They and the State Bureau of Investigation are now looking for a silver or light colored 2013 to 2017 Volkswagen CC.
Police collected surveillance video from the morning of the incident. That dark and grainy video, however made it difficult to determine who the three potential suspects are or exactly what the vehicle looked like, but FBI has been able to enhance the video to get a make and model.
Atlantic Beach police have searched for three suspects who may have been involved but so far there are no suspects identified.
Police were also initially looking for a silver four-door Infiniti, then a Nissan Altima. Sue Miller’s tells CBS 17 now that police are looking for the right car, the investigation can go in the right direction.
There is still a $55,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those involved.

Sue miller says its hard to see other cases be solved in a matter of days or months without seeing much progress in her husband’s case but she says she refuses to give up on justice for him.
