Car drives off I-84 exit ramp, through woods and crashes onto parked car in Middlebury
A woman was injured after losing control of her vehicle on Interstate 84 in Middlebury on Thursday, crashing through the wood and onto a parked car, according to the Connecticut State Police.
A 34-year-old Seymour woman was traveling in the left lane of I-84 East near the gore area of Exit 17 before 11:45 a.m. on Thursday when she veered into the right lane and struck the Exit 17 sign. She lost control of her Honda Odyssey and then drove through the Exit 17 off-ramp, through around 70 feet of wooded area, a fence and finally landed on a parked Ford Escape on Straits Turnpike, state police said.
A Kia Sportage parked next to the Ford was also struck by debris.
The Seymour woman was transported to Waterbury Hospital for minor injuries, according to state police. The Ford and Kia were unoccupied, state police said.
The woman was found to be at fault based on her statement, a witness statement and evidence collected from the scene. She was issued an infraction for failure to drive in a proper lane.
