Monitor-Merrimac bridge reopens northbound lanes after crash forced a car partially off the road
Northbound lanes on I-664 at the Monitor Merrimac Memorial Bridge Tunnel were closed Tuesday morning after a multiple vehicle crash. .
The accident occurred around 6:34 a.m., according to a tweet from the Virginia Department of Transportation. VDOT’s traffic cam shows a car involved’s been struck partially off the roadway.
The people involved in the three-car crash sustained non-life-threatening injuries. A total of 3 crashes are being investigated by state police.
Crews were able to clear the accident at approximately 7:38 a.m., according to a spokesperson from the Virginia State Police. All northbound lanes of travel were reopened.
State police say two minor crashes caused a chain reaction of slowed vehicles.
