Cardi B Opens Up to Fans About Liposuction During a Recent Performance

"I shouldn't really be performing."

Cardi B just underwent liposuction surgery. How do we know? She told us. Well, kind of. The musician opened up about her latest plastic surgery procedure during a performance on Sunday at Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis.

The same way artists banter with the audience between songs, Cardi was reportedly chatting on the mic during her set when she referenced her recent liposuction. Refinery29 reports that Cardi dropped some truth during the show in a now-deleted video.

"Let me tell y'all something. I shouldn't really be performing," she says, according to Refinery29. "I should have canceled today because moving too much is gonna fuck up my lipo. But bitch, I'm still gonna get this money bag."

Cardi didn't share exactly when she had the procedure, but liposuction recovery typically involves a painful week following at the very least. It's considered a "major surgery," as Dallas-based plastic surgeon Jeffrey M. Kenkel recently told Allure. Even after the initial week of recovery, it could take months for the swelling to disappear completely. It's not the type of thing most people could endure and then perform in front of thousands of fans, but then again, most people aren't Cardi B.

A festival show followed up by a night at the Met Gala may not constitute restful recovery, but Cardi knows her body best of all.
