Cardinals cut CB Breon Borders, opening roster spot

The Arizona Cardinals announced a roster move on Sunday, the day before they take on the Los Angeles Rams in the first round of the playoffs.

They announced the release of cornerback Breon Borders.

Borders was signed off the Tennessee Titans’ practice squad on Dec. 15. He appeared in one game for the Cardinals and struggled in his 18 defensive snaps in Week 18, when he replaced Kevin Peterson in the lineup following a head injury.

The move opens a roster spot, which is believed is going to be used to activate defensive lineman J.J. Watt from injured reserve.

The Cardinals will wait to make that move tomorrow if they are going to do it.
