The Vikings are looking for a new quarterback for the practice squad
Arizona plucked David Blough off Minnesota’s practice squad Wednesday. He takes the spot of quarterback Kyler Murray on the Cardinals’ 53-man roster. Murray who was placed on injured reserve after he suffered a season-ending torn ACL injury Monday night against New England.
Blough, who played for the Detroit Lions from 2019-21, joined Minnesota’s practice squad just before the start of the season. With the Vikings going with Kirk Cousins as the starter and Nick Mullens as the backup, Blough was not elevated for any games.
“You know that that stuff’s going to happen, especially with the amount of the guys who are good players who are on the practice squad,” Vikings receiver Adam Thielen said of Blough’s departure. “He’s obviously great to have as far as that communicator who’s there to say, ‘Hey, this is what I’m seeing. This is how we can attack them.’ ”
Overall, Thielen was pleased to see Blough get another chance on an NFL active roster.
“You could see it in practice that he’s very talented and he’ll do well, and I’m happy for him to have an opportunity,” Thielen said.
