Cardinals QB Kyler Murray ‘mastered’ offensive system, emerging as leader

The Arizona Cardinals are counting on quarterback Kyler Murray to be even better than he has been through two seasons in the NFL. He was Rookie of the Year in 2019 and earned a Pro Bowl berth in his second season.

There is room to improve, of course. But the team anticipates another leap forward.

“I know he’s been working really hard this offseason to try and take that big jump,” head coach Kliff Kingsbury said of Murray.

The head coach was impressed with Murray’s development last year, even in the midst of a limited offseason due to the global pandemic.

“I thought, not having an offseason last year rolling into Season 2, he made big strides,” he said.

In Year 3, the offense shouldn’t be an issue and he has confidence.

“He definitely is very confident right now,” Kinsgbury said. “He’s mastered our system.”

But that isn’t the best part.

“You can see the leadership qualities continue to emerge and we’re all really excited to have him here watch where this thing can go with him as our leader.”

With more protection on the offensive line, more weapons to throw to, mastery of the offense and maturing leadership, the Cardinals could be in line for a special season.
