Cardinals WR Christian Kirk ruled out of game vs. Lions

The Arizona Cardinals will be without one of the starting receivers this weekend when they take on the Detroit Lions. Receiver Christian Kirk, who injured his groin last week, has been ruled out of the game.

The Cardinals released their final injury report of the week and Kirk was unable to practice any of the days.

In Kirk’s absence, it will mean more playing time for second-year receivers KeeSean Johnson and Andy Isabella.

Center Mason Cole also was unable to practice all week and was also ruled out of the game, meaning Lamont Gaillard will make his second consecutive start at center.

Two Cardinals starters on defense are questionable for Sunday. Defensive lineman Jordan Phillips was limited in practice on Friday for the second day in a row after missing Wednesday’s work with an ankle injury, is one. The other is cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick, who was a new addition to the injury report on Friday. He was limited on Friday with a neck injury and is questionable for the game.

With both Phillips and Kirkpatrick questionable, it is possible the team decides to promote a defensive lineman or cornerback from the practice squad.

Ruled out:

  • WR Christian Kirk (groin)

  • OL Mason Cole (hamstring)

Questionable:

  • DL Jordan Phillips (ankle)

  • CB Dre Kirkpatrick (neck)
