Caretakers accused of scalding developmentally disabled client

CANTON – Caretakers for a developmentally disabled client are accused of bathing the woman in scalding water and causing severe burns.

According to a Canton police report, the 36-year-old city woman was hospitalized and required skin grafts after her caretakers, a 43-year-old Canton woman and a 56-year-old North Canton man, gave her a bath in scalding hot water.

Both have been charged with felony patient endangerment and assault for the Feb. 5 incident at a home in the 400 block of Belden Avenue SE.

Police said the woman was living in a group home.

The two suspects worked for Blendedtraditions Inc., which provides services for the developmentally disabled. The woman charged in the incident was listed as the CEO.

The company, when reached by phone, declined to comment for this story.
