EAST HAVEN, CT — Mayor Joe Carfora shared East Haven's latest on COVID-19 and the town budget.

"As Phase I of the Governor’s plan for reopening our State begins next week, I want to update you on where our Town stands with respect to the COVID 19-pandemic. Current data indicates we have 345 residents who have tested positive and 34 deaths. Phase I of the reopening includes offices, restaurants for outdoor dining, retail stores and malls, hair salons and barbershops, and museums and zoos. Please keep in mind that the State has provided that these businesses must operate pursuant to certain rules and all of us will need to remain diligent about continuing to follow the recommended guidelines related to social distancing, wearing of face coverings, washing of hands, limitations on gathering, etc. We want to avoid any potential spike in the spreading of the virus. Information regarding Phase 1 of the reopening can be found on the Town’s website at

In addition, the Town Council will be adopting the Town Budget and setting the mill rate for the 2020-2021 Fiscal Year at its meeting this Thursday, May 21st at 7:00 PM. The public hearings on the budget will be held on Tuesday, May 19th and Wednesday, May 20th at 7:00 PM. Information on how to participate in the public hearings and the Town Council meeting, all of which will be held remotely, via ZOOM meeting is on the Town’s website.
