Cargo Plane Crashes at Airport Near Tehran, Killing 15

The Iranian army said 15 people were killed when a military cargo plane crashed about 15 kilometers west of Tehran on January 14.

The plane was flying from Kyrgyzstan to Payam Airport but attempted in error to land at the nearby Fath airport, Iranian state-owned news reported. It overshot the runway on landing.

The Iranian military said on their website that the plane was being used by the Iranian Air Force to transport meat.

Bodies of 15 of the 16 personnel on the plane were recovered, Iranian news sources said. A flight engineer survived and was taken to hospital. Credit: CAN News via Storyful
