Caring Place expands hours

The Caring Place in Georgetown recently announced expanded hours to be launched Monday.

The shops at the Caring Place Thrift Store, 2000 Railroad Ave., will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Second Helping Thrift Store, 3700 Williams Drive, will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.

The donation drive-thru at 2000 Railroad Ave. will be open from noon to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays (a list of what the Caring Place accepts can be found at caringplacetx.org/donatemystuff).

Furniture pick-up is offered from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays through Fridays. Appointments can be made by leaving a message at 512-943-0711.

Programs & Services, 2001 Railroad Ave., will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Financial assistance for those in the Caring Place service area includes rent, mortgage, utilities, transportation, emergency dental and prescription assistance with verifiable proof of crisis.

The food pantry at 2000 Railroad Ave. will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. At this time, households may visit the food pantry once per month. The food pantry is closed on Wednesdays so it can conduct remote food distribution.

Code Chica++ offered to alumni

Latinitas will offer the Code Chica++ advanced certification program for Code Chica alumni beginning Jan. 15.

Students will learn development fundamentals; explore the roles of product manager, engineer and designer; and meet guest speakers. Upon graduation, students will earn a $75 stipend.

Hospital hosts coat drive

St. David's Round Rock Medical Center is hosting a winter coat drive to support Round Rock school district students.

New coats of any size can be donated to the hospital, 2400 Round Rock Ave., through Thursday. Bins are in the hospital's main entrance.
