Caritas charity offers crucial grants to heat displaced Ukrainians' homes in Poltava Oblast

Financial support to help Ukrainians stay warm this winter is being provided by Caritas Poltava with the support of the Catholic Relief Services (CRS).

The charitable foundation has extended its Money for a Warm Winter project for internally displaced persons (IDPs) who arrived from war zones after Feb. 24, 2022 and are registered in Poltava Oblast.

The project provides a one-time cash payment for the purchase of fuel materials like firewood during the winter 2024 season.

IDP households registered after Feb. 24, 2022 and who are unable to purchase fuel materials, whose household income is less than the subsistence minimum of 5,400 hryvnias ($144), and who fall under one of the six vulnerability criteria can apply:

  • people with disabilities or serious illnesses

  • single person over 55 or a household consisting of one or two elderly people who do not have the support of relatives

  • single mothers/fathers or guardians of minor children

  • large families (three or more minor children)

  • pregnant women or mothers with children under 3 years of age

One mandatory criterion is that the household cannot have received similar assistance from other organizations.

What documents are required for registration

Applicants must provide the following documentation:

  • identity documents

  • certificate of IDP registration

  • certificate of registration number of the taxpayer's account card

  • bank letter

  • IBAN

  • documents confirming vulnerability criteria

  • proof of stove heating

Interested parties can apply for financial assistance at the following places:

  • Jan. 23, 10:00 a.m. - Shyshaky village, 56/1 Kyryla Osmaka Street

  • Jan. 23, 1:00 p.m. - Biloserkivka village, 11 Lesi Ukrainky Street

  • Jan. 24, 10:00 a.m. - Hlobyno, 281 Tsentralna Street

  • Jan. 24, 10:00 a.m.- Obolon village, 17 Sobornosti Street

  • Jan. 24, 1:00 p.m. - Semenivka village, 44 Nezalezhnosti Street
