Carl's Jr. Is Releasing Its First Ever CBD-Infused Burger — Just in Time for 4/20

Carl’s Jr. isn’t called a fast-food joint for nothing!

On Wednesday, the nationwide chain announced that they will be releasing a cheeseburger with CBD-infused sauce in honor of 4/20 from one location only in Denver, Colorado.

The limited-time food item, known as the Rocky Mountain High: CheeseBurger Delight, will include two beef patties, pickled jalapeños, pepper jack cheese, and Carl’s Jr. signature Santa Fe sauce infused with hemp-based CBD oil.

To make things even tastier, the chain will add their Crisscut fries into the specialty burger, giving it an extra, satisfying crunch.

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a safe, non-addictive naturally-occurring compound in cannabis that has therapeutic attributes, according to Project CBD. Unlike tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), CBD does not give cannabis users a “stoned” high, but its calming effects are often used to relieve chronic pain, anxiety, inflammation, depression, insomnia, among other conditions.

As many marijuana users know, 4/20 or April 20 is a time to celebrate smoking cannabis – often referred to as 420 — as well as fight for legislative change to legalize its use across the nation.

The exclusive location of Denver also holds special significance as it was the first state to legalize recreational marijuana. And to keep things local, the fast-food chain will be using the hemp-derived CBD oil from a nearby Colorado company.

With the specialty burger, Patty Trevino, Senior Vice President, Brand Marketing at Carl’s Jr., said their restaurant becomes the first fast-food chain to dabble in CBD-infused products.

“The new Rocky Mountain High: CheeseBurger Delight ties back to our core strategy of being the first to bring bold and unexpected flavors that are at the forefront of hot restaurant trends to a quick service menu,” Trevino said.

“Our customers have come to expect innovative and unique menu offerings, and we’re thrilled to be the first quick service restaurant to be testing CBD infused options,” Trevino added.

For those who may be interested in satisfying their munchies on 4/20, the cheeseburger will be available at the Denver restaurant, located at 4050 Colorado Blvd., beginning at 6:00am MT until the store closes for $4.20, while supplies last.
