U.S. women’s national team star Carli Lloyd set a scoring record on Sunday night, becoming the oldest player to score for the Americans in a 4-0 win over Jamaica.

Lloyd found the net almost immediately after the opening whistle, smashing home a shot from an unmarked position on the backside of the Jamaican goal in the 23rd second of play. The goal was the second-fastest in U.S. women’s national team history.

At 38 years and 332 days old, Lloyd surpassed American icon Kristine Lilly for the record. Lloyd is third overall in team history for caps with 302 appearances for the Americans, and fourth overall in scoring with 124 goals.

The striker continues to battle for a place on the Tokyo Olympic roster in a stacked group of attackers, including Orlando Pride star Alex Morgan.

Sunday’s match served as an important opportunity for coach Vlatko Andonovski to test bubble players for the Olympic roster such as Catarina Macario and Midge Purce.

Purce scored a goal of her own in the 22nd minute, adding to her stock as an addition to the Olympic roster.

Orlando Pride defender Konya Plummer captained the Jamaican side for the match, shouldering the challenge of fending off the ruthless American high press. Plummer ceded a penalty kick after tackling Christen Press in the box during the first half, but settled into her position in the second, diving to block several on-target shots.

Morgan entered the game off the bench in the second half. It took until stoppage time for the striker to make her mark on the match when she netted her 110th goal of her national team career in the 92nd minute.

The goal capped off a 4-0 victory for the Americans, continuing Andonovski’s undefeated record since he took over the team in 2019.

The Americans will travel to Austin for the final game of the Summer Series, facing off against Nigeria on Wednesday.

Morgan and Plummer will return to Orlando following that match to prepare for the next Pride match against Gotham FC on June 20.
