Carlisle Republican John Henry Newman announces bid for Pennsylvania 10th Congressional District

(WHTM) — A Carlisle Republican has announced his intentions to challenge the Republican U.S. House Representative Scott Perry in the race for Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District Seat.

According to his campaign website, John Henry Newman is a former professor, administrator, and researcher.

If elected, the website says Newman will prioritize issues including constituent service, business and economic development, education, homelessness, and mental health.

He is the latest of a line of candidates, and the first Republican to challenge incumbent Scott Perry in the crowded race. The seven Democratic candidates who have filed with the Federal Election Commission to run include Shamaine Daniels, Rick Coplen, Mike O’Brien, Janelle Stelson, Blake Lynch, John Broadhurst, and Bob Forbes.

Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District includes all of Dauphin County and parts of Cumberland and York Counties.
