Defensive end Carlos Dunlap, who spent the first 10 1/2 seasons of his National League Football career with the Cincinnati Bengals, signed last Thursday with the Kansas City Chiefs - a team scheduled to visit the Bengals at Paul Brown Stadium in an AFC title game rematch Dec. 4.

Dunlap agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $8 million with the Chiefs after a visit with the team, according to a report via Twitter from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

"This is my 13th year," Dunlap said in a press conference Thursday. "I've done it 12 different ways, so I wanted to make sure I made an educated decision and went with a team where there was mutual interest in my ability to play and how I'll be used and the opportunity to win. Because at this point, I've done a lot of football. One of the things I have not done is, I haven't gone over 100 sacks. I haven't won a playoff game. And I haven't, clearly, won a Super Bowl. So those are things I would like to do at this point in my career. And I'm in hot pursuit and I feel like this team gives me a great opportunity, the best opportunity to do it."

From the Chiefs via Twitter last week:

Dunlap played all of last season and part of the 2020 season for the Seahawks, recording 13.5 sacks in 25 games for Seattle.

Dunlap talked about his departure from Cincinnati and shared his thoughts about the organization in an interview in Feb. 2021 with CBS Sports Radio's Zach Gelb, explaining that his final half-season with the Bengals wasn't what he had envisioned.

Dunlap had one sack in seven games for the Bengals in 2020. He had five sacks in nine games for Seattle that season and sealed the Seahawks' win against the Arizona Cardinals with a sack of Kyler Murray.

The Bengals traded Dunlap in Oct. 2020 to the Seahawks for a seventh-round pick and offensive lineman B.J. Finney.
