Carlos Santana is giving his real estate portfolio a refresh. According to the Wall Street Journal, the musician just picked up a new vacation home on the Hawaii island of Kauai for $20.5 million, just one year after shelling out $8 million on a nearby smaller property, which is now back on the market for $12.9 million.

The rocker’s latest purchase is configured as four separate pods interconnected by a central outdoor living space with a retractable roof, which comes in handy during the rainy season. The main pod has a living room and dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows that offer stunning views of the island, a kitchen, a den, and a gym. The second pod includes the spacious main suite, as well as an outdoor shower. There are two guest bedrooms in the third pod and a garage in the fourth. Altogether, the home spans more than 8,000 square feet.

Perhaps the biggest highlight of the 35,284-square-foot property is the outdoor space that boasts another living and dining area, a lounge, and a kitchen and barbecue area. There is also a lanai and an infinity saltwater swimming pool and spa overlooking Hanalei Bay.

Santana’s home base is in Las Vegas—where he owns two properties, one of which he recently listed for $2.8 million—but he enjoys escaping to paradise whenever he can. “He loves to vacation there,” his manager and brother-in-law, Michael Vrionis, told the WSJ. “When you travel all the time, you’re on tour all the time, I think he likes the serenity of Kauai.”
