Carlsbad man to face federal judge after alleged bank robbery in Carlsbad

A man who allegedly robbed Western Commerce Bank on Wednesday in Carlsbad was in federal custody Friday afternoon, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Miguel Saldana, 54, was arrested by the Carlsbad Police Department and charged with robbery.

Investigators allege he took an undetermined amount of money from the bank located at 3010 National Parks Highway, per an FBI news release.

He was booked into jail Thursday at 9:20 a.m. by Carlsbad police was released to the FBI Friday at 1:46 p.m., the Eddy County Detention Center's website indicated.

Saldana’s initial appearance on the charge was scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday in U.S. District Court in Roswell, said Frank Fisher, FBI spokesperson.
