Dell City man killed in truck crash in Culberson County, Texas near Guadalupe Mountains

A 49-year-old Dell City man was killed in a truck crash in far West Texas near Guadalupe Mountains National Park, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

Dean Lee Riley of Dell City was killed while he was driving east in a westbound lane on U.S. Highway 62 in Culberson County, Texas, read a DPS news release.

Lee's Chevrolet Silverado collided with the side of a Volvo truck tractor towing a semitrailer, police said, and it skidded north.

The driver of Volvo was injured in the crash, police said, but law enforcement did not provide any details as to the driver's condition.

The Silverado left the roadway and rolled, police said, ejecting Lee.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, read the release.

Police said Lee was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The Culberson County Sheriff’s Office reported the crash Monday night via Facebook, initially reporting the deceased was from Carlsbad.

Photos included in the Sheriff’s Office’s post showed a white pickup truck involved in the crash flipped on its side.

Police said the accident occurred in Culberson County, about 10 miles west of Guadalupe Mountains National Park.

The Texas Department of Public Safety out of Van Horn, Texas was investigating the incident along with the Texas Highway Patrol.
