Carlsbad Restaurant Among 100 Most Romantic In America: Study

CARLSBAD, CA — Four San Diego area restaurants, including one in Carlsbad, have been named among the most romantic restaurants in the country — just in time for Valentine's Day.

With the romantic holiday just days away, restaurant reservation company OpenTable released its "100 Most Romantic Restaurants in America" list this week. The company analyzed more than 12.4 million diner reviews to curate the list, which includes one restaurant in Cardiff, one in Carlsbad and two in San Diego.

Seafood restaurant Pacific Coast Grill in Cardiff has a 4.8-star rating on OpenTable.

"There are two levels of dining at the new PCG with every dining seat in the house carefully planned to have an ocean view," Open Table's description reads. "There are bars on both levels and a heated outdoor patio and a deck with one of the best views of the Pacific Ocean and the line up at Cardiff Reef."

Contemporary French restaurant Jeune et Jolie in Carlsbad has a 4.9-star rating on OpenTable.

"A culinary experience celebrating the moment, Jeune et Jolie reimagines French cuisine through the vibrant lens of our Southern California landscape," according to Open Table's description.

Seafood restaurant C-Level in San Diego has a 4.8-star rating on OpenTable.

"Resting on stilts atop San Diego by C Level Lounge, is an upscale-casual lounge on the waterfront overlooking the city skyline and Coronado," Open Table's description reads.

Mister A's in San Diego, a contemporary French and American restaurant, has a 4.9-star rating on OpenTable.

"Mister A's is the penthouse, fine-dining destination of San Diego, and has been for over 50 years," according to Open Table's description.

OpenTable compiled its list ahead of Valentine's Day on Monday, when restaurants will likely see a resurgence of couples dining out after two years of lower numbers because of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to OpenTable. A survey by OpenTable and YouGov found that 34 percent of U.S. adults who celebrate the holiday haven't dined out for Valentine's Day since before 2019.

"Our data suggests that Valentine's Day dining is rebounding this year, with reservations up 30 percent nationwide compared to last year," said Susan Lee, chief growth officer at OpenTable. "We're excited to see this momentum leading up to what has traditionally been one of the biggest dining days of the year for restaurants."
