GIBRALTAR -- The Oscar A. Carlson High School Hall of Fame has several new inductees.

Michael N. Pehote, high school librarian, said the Hall of Fame has three possible paths for induction: general alumni, retiree or athletic.

The 2022 Class was inducted last week at Arnaldo's Banquet Center in Riverview. This is the first all-female class in the history of the Hall of Fame. The first class was in 2012. The 2022 inductees were:

  • Athletics: The 2008 and 2009 State Champion Cheerleading Teams; Co-coached by Christina Wilson and Danielle Jokella; 2008 MHSAA State Champions; 2009 MHSAA District, Regional and State Champions (MEGA League Champions as well). Same girls on both teams. Coach Wilson and Cheerleader Delayna Herndon were already members of the HOF individually (Delayna is currently the cheer coach at The University of Notre Dame).

  • General Alumni: Brenda Greear, 1983 alumna; Current athletic secretary at Carlson High School; Well respected and loved by athletic directors, coaches, and athletes of Carlson High School; Winner of the first ever MIAAA Athletic Administrative Assistant of the Year Award. Nominated by former coach Chad Liptow.

  • General Alumni and retiree: Glenda Sheets, 1966 alumna (first graduating class of Carlson High School); Returned to teach in the Gibraltar School District for 25-plus years, retiring in 2007; English teacher at Carlson High School, teaching English 9 for most of her years in education; Nominated by Carlson English teacher Erika Madgwick.
