Carnegie Mellon extends property holdings onto Craig Street, buys Italian restaurant building
As it works to map out its future campus development plans, Carnegie Mellon University is expanding its real estate holdings along Craig Street.
Real estate records indicate the university recently bought the property at 317 and 319 South Craig Street, paying $2.75 million for the business district commercial building to Fontana Land Co.
It’s a modest-sized building at the corner of Craig and Filmore Streets perhaps best known by its main tenant, Lucca Ristorante, an Italian restaurant with a more than 20-year run in the stretch of Oakland between Carnegie Mellon and the University of Pittsburgh.
The property - which includes two commercial addresses in a single building - also includes Kohli’s Indian Imports, an international food market.
