Although Washington D.C. is far from Louisiana, many Louisianians were in attendance.

Former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was named the King of the Mystick Krewe of Louisianians and kicked off the three-day celebration alongside 2024 Queen Camille Morrison on Thursday.

According to the Mystick Krewe of Louisianians website, the first Washington Mardi Gras was held in 1994 and brings people together for a celebration of Louisiana and its culture.
