Carol Vorderman has said she was attacked by a monkey while in isolation ahead of her stint on I'm a Celebrity... South Africa.

The Countdown legend is part of the reality show's all-star lineup that begins in South Africa on 24 April alongside the likes of Amir Khan, Shaun Ryder and Helen Flanagan.

Writing on social media, Vorderman detailed that her isolation period was quite eventful: "I'm A Celebrity... South Africa starts a week today.

"Well, it was recorded as you know, late last year. And all of the campates, I'm one of them, had to isolate for a week before we went into camp. So over the last week, as we lead up to the first programme going out on ITV, you are going to live that isolation with me!"

She added: "The monkey attacks, the hippos, the exercising, the bikini trials, everything. You and me together, stay with me."

Vorderman also captioned the post: "I'm taking you along with me to see how I spent my week before going into camp last September.

"I'm going to show you my journey to South Africa and how I spent my week in isolation which included a monkey attack, hippo mating calls, lots of exercise and beautiful sunsets."

I'm a Celebrity... South Africa starts on ITV on 24 April and runs for three weeks and will air every weekday. The final week of shows also clashes with the semi-final of Eurovision.
