Countdown and Celebrity Gogglebox star Carol Vorderman was one of the first stars to pay tribute to Jackson, who is best remembered for her Oscar-winning roles in Women in Love and A Touch of Class. In 2020, she returned to the small screen in BBC drama Elizabeth Is Missing, which earned her a BAFTA win.
"A part of my growing up years... Watching the Oscar winning actress Glenda Jackson be her extraordinary self," wrote Vorderman. "And then to see this unique woman turn into a firebrand in politics was deeply impressive for young girls like me.
"May she Rest In Peace," she concluded, re-tweeting a tribute post that included photos of Jackson through the years.

Comedian David Baddiel also shared a tribute in wake of the news, recalling a radio interview she gave that summed up her character.
"I know she achieved extraordinary heights in many fields, but the thing I will always love Glenda Jackson for is unironically saying in a radio interview that she felt the height of her acting career was performing with Morecambe and Wise," tweeted Baddiel.
BAFTA also released a statement online in memory of the late Woman in Love actress.
"We are deeply saddened to learn that award-winning actress and former MP Glenda Jackson has died at the age of 87," it reads. "Jackson became an international star in the 1970s and most recently won a BAFTA for her role in Elizabeth is Missing in 2020."

After retiring from acting, Jackson embarked on a career in politics. She joined the House of Commons in 1992 as a Labour MP for London's Hampstead and Highgate, a position she held until 2015.
Labour politician Dianne Abbott called the former MP a "kind and extremely principled woman" in an online tribute, whilst fellow Labour MP Tulip Siddiq, who took over Glenda's position in 2015, said she was "devastated" to learn the news of Jackson's passing
"A formidable politician, an amazing actress and a very supportive mentor to me. Hampstead and Kilburn will miss you Glenda," she wrote.
