The program, launched in early 2022 with about 100 enrollees, is intended to give students a head start at a well-paying career, and could help address a local shortage of firefighters, officials said at its inception. The course is designed to prepare students for the firefighting program at Eastern Florida State College, and eventually, their state certifications.
