Carrie Underwood Blames Pregnancy Insomnia for a $600 Makeup Shopping Spree

She's considering deleting the Sephora app from her phone.

Earlier this year, a survey revealed that Americans spend billions of dollars a year on drunken online shopping sprees. Although I personally (and if we're being honest, miraculously) haven't contributed to this phenomenon, I know plenty of people who, after a night of drinking, stayed up just a little longer to blurrily buy everything from cat Halloween costumes to bizarre beauty gadgets. But if Carrie Underwood's recent tweets are any indication, it's not just booze that can fuel late-night splurges.

Early Friday morning, the singer, who's pregnant with her second child, tweeted, "Dear pregnancy insomnia, Please go bother someone else...like dads. Go bother dads. My husband sleeps so soundly and peacefully and I’ve been awake for 2 hours (so far). How is this fair? Imma lose my mind!" She wrapped up the tweet with several emojis, including the weary face and the sentient poop.

A tweet Underwood posted about five hours later appears to indicate that she did, in fact, eventually fall asleep for a little while — but not before hazily expanding her beauty-product collection. "Worst part about insomnia = waking up this morning to see what I bought online while I was up," she tweeted. "I just realized I spent over $600 on make up. #SeemedLikeAGoodIdeaAtTheTime #HelpMe #TakeAwayMyShoppingApps #ButThereWasASale"

Apparently, the shopping apps in question include Sephora's. When fellow singer Maren Morris responded, "I do that without insomnia so what’s my excuse? 😂 #SephoraHolic 💄," Underwood replied, "Aaaannnnnd, that’s exactly the app I use. 💋 If we buy presents for ourselves and wrap them up and put them under the tree, aren’t we just doing some last minute Christmas shopping? It sounds logical. 🎁To: me. From: me. I promise I’ll act surprised!"

Underwood, who announced her second pregnancy in August, is rumored to be due in January. So while a new baby may not mean she'll be sleeping through the night any time soon, she'll probably have her hands very happily too full to scroll through the Sephora app during those late-night wake-up calls.
