Country music powerhouse Carrie Underwood absolutely owned her performance of a Christmas classic during this year's CMA Country Christmas.

The star-studded event was hosted by Gabby Barrett and Carly Pearce, who recently won "Female Vocalist of the Year" at the 2021 CMA Awards. Other performers included Jimmie Allen, Pistol Annies, Lady A, Lainey Wilson, BRELAND, Brett Eldredge, The Shindellas and Louis York.

The American Idol champion sung her rendition of Mary, Did You Know? a calming, yet powerful song originally written by Mark Lowry in 1984. Since its release, many prominent singers have recorded their own covers, including Pentatonix, Cee Lo Green, and fellow country star, Dolly Parton.

Carrie's stunning vocals usually take center stage, but we've got to give a little commotion for her beautiful, emerald dress. She looked like a dream as she prefaced her performance with a quick message as to why she appreciates the song featured on her Christmas album, My Gift. "I’m performing ‘Mary, Did You Know?’ It’s kind of a newer Christmas classic. It’s on my album. I recorded it, as many people throughout the years, for my Christmas album, ‘My Gift’ and it’s just stripped down me singing this song," Carrie said. "It’s such a great song to me from a mother’s point of view because imagine Mary having the son of God in her arms and raising him and being a mother, but also it’s the son of God and that just is something that is very profound and something I think about often, so it’s one of my favorites and I hope everybody likes it."

Of course, fans ran to the comments of the video to share their positive opinions about Carrie's song. "Absolutely beautiful. Gives me chills," "Amazing....Carrie can absolutely sing anything ❤️❤️❤️" and "Absolutely beautiful as always. Her voice is perfection" were just some of the many sweet comments about Carrie's performance.

Let's just say her appearance on CMA Country Christmas was a very different tone than her recently released holiday anthem that had fans sharing tons of opinions. People had a lot to say about her fun tune, "Stretchy Pants," but we'll be the first to admit the song is fun and very relatable during the holiday season. The new tune benefits Nashville-based organization, The Store, a charity founded by singer Brad Paisley and wife Kimberly Williams-Paisley.
