Carroll County adds environmental services position
MALVERN ‒ Carroll County government created a new administrative position as Roy Ford was hired as superintendent of sewage services for Carroll County Environmental Services.
County commissioners agreed to place Ford on the job following a request from Ralph Castellucci, director of Carroll County Environmental Services. The agency, while under the county's authority, provides sanitary sewage service mostly for the Malvern area and parts of Brown Township, including Lake Mohawk.

"Our district encompasses all the unincorporated areas in Carroll County," Castellucci said. "Most of our users are in Brown Township. We used to have a satellite office in Carrollton. But we don't have it anymore."
Ford, who has been over the sewage treatment works in Carrollton, will make $32 an hour with the county.
"Ralph kind of put that in his budget," Carroll County Commissioner Don Leggett said. "It was planned for. No one retired. We need more people there. It has gotten to the point where a lot has to be done."
Attempts to contact Ford were not successful. He holds a state Class III professional water or wastewater operator license. Ford also holds a Class I certified water or wastewater license. Those licenses come from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
"We used to have a superintendent years ago," Castellucci said. "We have been short-staffed for a while. We have been getting behind on too many projects. We used to staff with six. We are down to four."
