Carroll news: Wildermuth Memorial Church hosting Christmas Eve candlelight service

Wildermuth Memorial Church in Carroll will have a “sleep-in Sunday” on Christmas Eve. There will be no 10 a.m. worship service. They would like to invite the community to a 7 p.m. candlelight and reflection service. Pianist Greg Smith will provide Christmas music with some special guests. He is looking for children to participate in the service. Anyone interested can call the church at 740-756-9265.

On Sunday, Dec. 17 please join us at 10 a.m. for a special Christmas program courtesy of music director, Randy Frazier.

Pastor, Brandon Lewis has been doing an Advent sermon series with weekly readings and candle lighting.Wildermuth Memorial Church is located at 3405 Carroll Eastern Road.

Quilters

The Quilters on the Canal is a group of ladies who share a common interest in quilting and friendship. They meet on Mondays from 9 am. to 3 p.m. at the Community Center, 45 East Waterloo Street. Senior citizens in the community are welcome to attend.

Chair Volleyball is held every Wednesday from 9:30 to 10: 30 a.m.

Yoga classes are canceled due to injury.

BC concerts

Several holiday events are coming up at Bloom-Carroll schools. The first one is this evening Dec. 7. Here is the schedule:

  • BC Elementary Holiday Program (Kindergarten and First Grades only). The Kindergarten Holiday Program will begin at 6 p.m. followed by the First Grade Holiday Program kicking off at 7 p.m. this evening.. Both programs will take place in the cafeteria at Bloom-Carroll Elementary School.

  • Tuesday, Dec. 12 will feature the 7th-12 Grade Winter Choir Concert beginning at 7 p.m. in the Bloom-Carroll Middle School Auditorium.

  • On Wednesday, Dec. 13, the 6th Grade Winter Choir Concert begins at 7 p.m. in the Bloom-Carroll Middle School Auditorium.

The community is invited to attend all of the concerts.

SJXIII parish

Bishop Earl Fernandes will join with members of Saint John XXIII Catholic Parish on Sunday, Dec. 17. Members will be celebrating the mortgage payoff of the church. Bishop Earl Fernandes will celebrate the 11:15 a.m. Mass in recognition of this accomplishment. There will be a reception following Mass in the lower-level Social Hall. The church is located at 5170 Winchester Southern Road.

LUMC

Lithopolis United Methodist Church and Canal Winchester Human Services are teaming up to grant the Christmas wishes of local families who would not otherwise be able to put a gift under their tree for their children this year. A “Gift Tree” is located at the church, 80 North Market Street. All volunteers need to do is take an ornament, buy the gift, and return it with the ornament to the church office by Sunday, Dec. 10.
