Carroll sets new record at USA Powerlifting competition

Feb. 21—Amanda Carroll, a former Allatoona High School softball player, won the junior state championship and the open women's state title in the USA Powerlifting Georgia State Championships last weekend at South Forsyth High School.

A graduate of Georgia Southern, Carroll set a new state record for lifting 402.3 pounds in the squat competition. The 22-year old outlifted all the women in the open classification with a combined total of 912 pounds.

A current student Kennesaw State, Carroll works part time at Benchmark Physical Therapy and is a personal trainer. Her next goal is to compete at September's USA Powerlifting Raw Nationals in Memphis, Tennessee.
