Carrots Are Being Recalled Due To Salmonella
Yet another recall has been announced by the Food & Drug Administration due to safety concerns. This time, select batches of carrots produced by Grimmway Farms are being recalled because of potential salmonella contamination.
A routine internal company test found the salmonella and Grimmway Farms is monitoring the situation. The recall includes several carrot products like baby carrots, shredded carrots, and rainbow carrots all under the Grimmway Farms label. A full list of the products in question is listed on the FDA website including lot codes and packaging details. All of the carrots have "best if used by" dates of August 9 and August 20.
Along with the official announcement, Grimmway farms also reached out to food manufacturers and service distributers that may have received any of the damaged products. In these instances, the affected products were recaptured prior to being available for consumption or purchase.
Salmonella can cause infections which can be particularly harmful to young children, the elderly, and individuals with otherwise weakened immune systems. At the time of publication, no illnesses linked to the Grimmway Farms carrot recall have been reported.
This recall comes alongside various other food recalls across the nation. Items like packages muffins, kimchi, and Tyson chicken products are all facing recalls due to either salmonella- or listeria-related concerns. Many of the recalls are issued out of an abundance of caution for customers and the FDA updates each announcement as more information becomes available.
Always be vigilant in checking your fridge and freezer when it comes to these products to be safe. Never consume recalled food items and instead dispose of them immediately or return them to the point of purchase for a refund.
