Graffiti Summer hits its stride with the North Modesto Kiwanis American Graffiti Festival & Car Show. The two-day event comes after the club’s Friday, June 9, parade/cruise in downtown Modesto. Entertainment also planned from June 10-16 for the region includes the Carnegie Arts Center’s annual community block party in Turlock.

American Graffiti Festival & Car Show

North Modesto Kiwanis presents its annual American Graffiti Festival & Car Show, the cornerstone to the city’s annual Graffiti Summer events. Expect more than 1,200 cars, live entertainment, food for sale, beer, a wine garden and vendors at the festival. “American Graffiti” actress Candy Clark will attend. Sunday, the show will host contemporary muscle and specialty cars from the Modesto Cars & Coffee group.

WHEN: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, June 10-11

Block party

The Carnegie Arts Center throws its annual block party. The community is invited to attend the event featuring live performances, art activities, artist and vendor booths and free admission to the annual Youth Art Exhibition.

“Grease” singalong

Sing the songs as the classic film “Grease” plays on the big screen. Dress up as your favorite character from the film and watch the antics of Rydell High’s famous classmates Danny Zuko (John Travolta), Sandy Olsen (Olivia Newton-John), the T-Birds and the Pink Ladies.

Comedy at the State

“Good Sam”

Prospect Theater Project presents a Radio Cavalcade production of “Good Sam.” It’s the story of Sam Clayton, who likes to help out people in need. He helps others so much that he often finds himself broke and unable to help his own family.
