Cars, strawberries, music and more. See festivals happening this June in Centre County
Centre County summers may seem pretty quiet until festival week in July, but that’s not really the case. There are several notable fairs, festivals and events across the county in June that celebrate food, drinks, cars and music.
Here’s a look at some of those events to check out as the weather gets warmer.
Rhoneymeade Fest
When: June 2-4
Where: Rhoneymeade Arboretum and Sculpture Garden in Centre Hall
What: The third annual event features more than 45 national and local musicians performing in multicultural and experimental styles.. The festival will also offer visual artists, local food and drink, yoga, guided hikes and meditation. Activities will also take place in State College at Sidney Friedman Parklet and 3 Dots Downtown on June 2. The events June 3-4 at Rhoneymeade Arboretum require tickets.

Nittany Antique Machinery Association Spring Show
When: June 2-4
Where: Penn’s Cave, Centre Hall
What: A consignment sale at 8:30 a.m. June 3 features a variety of equipment and collectibles. The three-day event includes a flea market, parts vendors, homemade ice cream, tractor pulling contests and equipment demonstrations.

Bellefonte Children’s Fair
When: 10 a.m. -3 p.m. June 3
Where: Curtin and Armor streets
What: The Bellefonte Sunrise Rotary Club will host the annual fair featuring games, crafts, food and prizes.

Special Olympics Pennsylvania Summer Games
When: June 8-10
Where: Penn State campus
What: More than 2,000 athletes and 750 coaches from across Pennsylvania gather in State College for three days of athletic competition. Those interested in volunteering can sign up online.

Strawberry Festival
When: 3-7 p.m. June 10
Where: Lemont Village Green
What: The 41st annual festival is sponsored by the Lemont Village Association and features cakes, ice cream lemonade, and, of course, freshly picked strawberries. There will also be children’s art projects, music and speeder rides. Interested volunteers can sign up at the post office or online.

State College Pride
When: June 10
Where: Downtown State College
What: Centre LGBT+, State College Borough and the Downtown State College Improvement District sponsor Pride events in the borough. State Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta has been named grand marshal. A parade begins at 3 p.m. June 10 followed by a festival at 4:30 p.m. in Sidney Friedman Park with music, food trucks and speakers. Penn’s Woods Music Festival
When: June 10-24
Where: Penn State campus
What: The professional classical summer music festival returns with orchestra, chamber music and jazz performances. There will also be performances especially for young, aspiring musicians and salon-type concerts with limited seating to encourage discussion. Find the full schedule and ticket information online.

Historic Bellefonte Cruise
When: June 16-17
Where: Downtown Bellefonte
What: The Father’s Day weekend tradition, in its 34th year, starts with an open cruise at 6 p.m. June 16 and continues with a sock hop later that night. The main event the next day is the car show with more than 30 classes of cars, trucks and motorcycles. Musicians and a DJ will perform at multiple stages. Juneteenth Celebration Weekend
When: June 16-17
Where: Downtown State College
What: The State College NAACP hosts its fourth Juneteenth commemoration, themed “Threading the Fabric of Freedom,” in partnership with State College borough, Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State and Happy Valley Adventure Bureau. The weekend includes an art exhibition from 5 to 8 p.m. June 16 at Woskob Family Gallery, 146 S. Allen St., and culminates with a block party June 17. The block party will run from noon to 5 p.m. on the 100 block of Fraser Street and the Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza.

Summer Craft Beverage Expo
When: June 18
Where: Talleyrand Park, Bellefonte
What: Central Pennsylvania Tasting Trail will host the sixth annual event, which will feature food trucks, vendors and games along with tastings with all the trail members in two sessions. Biscuit Jam will perform from noon-3 p.,m. and Ted & Molly will perform from 4-7 p.m.

Remington Ryde Bluegrass Festival
When: June 28-July 2
Where: Grange Park, Centre Hall
What: Gates open noon June 24 for the five-day festival, which includes an “open jam” every night after the concert with the featured band. The park grounds offer 1,500 RV hookup sites and 500 rough tent pads. Scheduled performers, along with Remington Ryde, include The Malpass Brothers and Rhonda Vincent & The Rage.

Sips & Sounds Downtown
When: 4-8 p.m. June 30
Where: 200 block of South Allen Street, State College
What: Downtown State College and Central Pennsylvania Tasting Trail are sponsoring this new food and drink festival that celebrates summer in State College. Vendors from the area will provide food, Tasting Trail members will bring craft beverages and local musicians will perform. The festival sets the stage for the upcoming Ironman triathlon and July Fourth celebration. Attendees can skip the line by registering their entire group online. Volunteers are also needed and can sign up online.
