Former Ohio State Buckeye Carson Meyer is going to remain with Columbus. The Blue Jackets have signed the right wing to a one-year, two-way (NHL/AHL) contract extension.

Meyer, 24, was drafted by the Blue Jackets in the sixth round, No. 179 overall, in 2017. He made his NHL debut this past season and posted one goal and two assists for three points with six penalty minutes, 13 shots on goal and 27 hits in 13 games.

He skated in his first NHL game on April 4 vs. Boston and recorded his first two career points, including his first goal, the following night at Philadelphia. The Powell, Ohio, native is the fourth homegrown player to appear in a game with Columbus in franchise history, joining Kole Sherwood, Jack Roslovic and Sean Kuraly.

Meyer is a 5-11, 184-pound forward who spent the majority of the 2021-22 season with the Cleveland Monsters, tying for the team lead in goals with 16. He also recorded 11 assists in 57 games and was eighth in the AHL with three short-handed goals.

A graduate of the Ohio AAA Blue Jackets program, Meyer registered 42-47-89 and 114 penalty minutes in 137 career NCAA games at Miami University and Ohio State from 2016-20.
