Carthage man pleads guilty to assault charges and more in kidnapping case

CARTHAGE, Mo. — A Carthage man that reportedly held a woman against her will and assaulted her pleads guilty to multiple charges.

Carthage man accused of kidnapping & domestic assault has bond reduced, placed under house arrest

Joshua Buzzard, 24, of Carthage, pleaded guilty, Monday morning, to one count of 2nd degree domestic assault and one count of resisting arrest.

On September 13, 2023, Jasper County deputies received a report from a woman who said she had been held against her will overnight and repeatedly strangled and assaulted. She told them she was able to escape when Buzzard fell asleep.

When deputies went to arrest him he jumped into a vehicle and led them on a pursuit for about 20 miles. It ended near Kellogg Lake after multiple officers surrounded him.

He’s scheduled to be sentenced on June 3.
