Jaydn Cary, recent Bronson High School graduate, got to play one more high school softball game on Wednesday.

Cary took part in the Dick Foster Memorial Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association All-Star Game held at Davenport University. There were four separate games for each of the divisions for high school softball in Michigan. She got a chance to play in the Division 3 game, which her team won by a convincing score of 10-2.

“I had a lot of fun today, it was a once in a lifetime experience,” Cary said following the contest.

In order to play in the game, the student-athlete must be selected as an All-State member by the MHSSCA. Cary was named as the First Team All-State catcher for Division 3 and spent most of the innings for the game behind the plate. Each of the four games played at Davenport on Wednesday, representing each of the four divisions for the MHSAA, were played to a full eight innings, regardless of score.

The “Red team” which she was on was consistently having strong innings at the plate. Cary finished with a double that scored two runs during the middle innings, giving her squad some distance on the scoreboard.

“I’ve been on a hitting slump during travel ball, so that hit was a nice boost for my confidence,” she said.

Cary said she had a good time connecting with some new people at the game as well.

“I liked meeting all of my teammates here and just seeing how each of them play,” she said. “It was nice coming together as a team when we first met each other.”

The first time Cary’s team got a chance to talk was just prior to the game, when they were warming up. It was only a single game situation on one day, but the teams appeared to get along well as if they had been playing for some time.

Now with Cary’s high school career coming to a close, she turns her attention to volleyball. She will play both sports at Glen Oaks Community College this coming school year and volleyball takes place in the fall.

“I’m really exciting for volleyball,” she said. “Looking forward to it.”
