Case against Kansas football player Tanaka Scott dismissed, as Trevor Wilson’s continues

LAWRENCE — The case against Tanaka Scott was dismissed Friday, while Trevor Wilson’s progressed and a future court date was set.

Scott and Wilson, both college football players for the Kansas Jayhawks, were arrested Thursday on suspicion of aggravated assault and use of a deadly weapon — according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. It was determined there was lack of probable cause for the case concerning Scott. With Wilson, set to be released on a $5,000 own recognizance bond after a court appearance Friday, his next appearance will be Aug. 30 at 10 a.m.

“We are aware of a situation involving two of our student-athletes and take all allegations very seriously,” Kansas Athletics told The Topeka Capital-Journal on Thursday in a statement. “We are working to gather more information and will have no further comment at this time.”

The arrests occurred about a week before Kansas is set to open its 2022 season on Sept. 2 at home against Tennessee Tech. It’s unclear how the dismissal of Scott’s case and continuation of Wilson’s affect their statuses for that game or any future ones. Both Scott and Wilson are wide receivers for the Jayhawks, with Scott being a redshirt freshman who played sparingly last season and Wilson being a redshirt junior who played in all 12 games in 2021.
