A contempt of court case against Julia Olson-Boseman, chair of New Hanover County's Board of Commissioners, is closed, according to Wake County court officials.

In July, a Wake County judge ruled Olson-Boseman was in contempt of court after failing to turn over court-ordered financial records to the North Carolina State Bar. The State Bar, an agency tasked with regulating North Carolina's legal profession, is investigating allegations Olson-Boseman mishandled client funds as she closed her law practice.

The State Bar obtained a preliminary injunction in Wake County Court in March that ordered Olson-Boseman to turn over a series of financial records. When she failed to do so and missed two court appearances, a judge ruled Olson-Boseman in contempt of court on July 18 and issued an order for her arrest.

That order for arrest was temporarily lifted and now the contempt of court case has been closed, the Wake County Clerk of Court's office confirmed on Tuesday.

It is unclear whether the closure of the case means Olson-Boseman has provided the State Bar with all of the records requested by the court order. Joshua Walthall, the Raleigh-based lawyer representing Olson-Boseman, has previously said she's making "every effort" to obtain the requested documents.

Walthall did not respond to a request for comment before publication deadline.

Since the arrest order was issued in July, members of the board of commissioners have said they consider the State Bar's investigation a "personal matter." Per state statue, the board cannot remove an elected commissioner unless the person moves out of the district they were elected to represent or is convicted of a felony.
