Case dismissed for MS boy detained for urinating in public
SENATOBIA, Miss. — A youth court judge dismissed a case Monday against a 10-year-old boy who was detained in Mississippi for urinating in public.
Attorney Carlos Moore, LaTonya Eason, and her son Quantavious left Tate County Youth Court Monday with a legal victory.
“There is no pending case against this child in Youth Court any further concerning urination,” said Moore.
This image of Quantavious sitting in the back of a Senatobia Police SUV last August sparked nationwide outrage. The youth was arrested for public urination after police witnessed him relieving himself in an attorney’s private parking lot.
After the incident, Senatobia’s police chief announced one of the officers involved in the child’s arrest was no longer employed and the other officers would be disciplined.
A Youth Court Judge ruled in December that the youngster would serve three months probation and have to write a two-page book report on the late basketball star Kobe Bryant or be designated a “child in need of supervision.” The matter was disposed of Monday.

“Judge Rusty Harlow found Quantavious Eason not to be a child in need of supervision and he dismissed the petition that was filed by Tate County to have him determined to be a child that needs supervision,” said Moore.
Moore and the boy’s mother fought hard for the decision.
“I’m very pleased that they did dismiss what was going on with my baby,” said LaTonya Eason.
But she says the ordeal continues to cause her son emotional trauma.
Moore announced a federal civil lawsuit will be filed within this month against the City of Senatobia and the police officers that arrested and transported Quantavious Eason to the city jail.
We reached out to Senatobia Police, the Senatobia mayor’s office, and the city attorney for a comment on Monday’s events. So far, we have not heard back.
