Alliance resident Teresa Caserta has been named principal of St. Thomas Aquinas High School and Middle School for next school year.

The Catholic academy in Louisville made the announcement this week.

Caserta has been assistant principal at St. Thomas Aquinas since 2021. Before that, she spent more than 13 years of teaching and seven years in the administration with Canton City School District.

With Canton City, Caserta served as principal and founder of Bulldog Virtual Academy, a virtual academy within the the district. She also served as principal at Harter Reading and Math Preparatory School in Canton for seven years. Caserta's teaching experience includes work in language arts, social studies and literacy, and she has worked with Title 1 and special needs students.

Caserta earned her bachelor of arts in elementary education from University of Mount Union, and a master's in educational administration from Ashland University.

In a news release, St. Thomas Aquinas officials said the new leader has pledged to continue to uphold the schools’ core beliefs.

“During her time at Aquinas, Caserta has expressed her commitment to upholding the safe, positive, and effective learning environment that families have come to expect at the school,” officials said in a news release announcing her promotion. “She aims to further the school's mission of truth, scholarship and excellence through her effective leadership, collaboration with school improvement teams, multicultural awareness, gender sensitivity, and appreciation for racial and ethnic diversity. Continual professional development is also a priority for Caserta to ensure the STA community operates at its best.”

Caserta said she’s honored to serve in this new post.

"I am proud that I have been able to contribute my experience and knowledge to St. Thomas Aquinas over these past two years as assistant principal," Caserta stated. "I am looking forward to working with all of our incoming and returning students and families."

Caserta and her husband have two children. They are active members of Regina Coeli Catholic Church in Alliance.
