Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis is hitting the Iowa campaign trail next week on behalf of her husband, presidential candidate and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

She'll launch the "Mamas for DeSantis" grassroots organization alongside Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds July 6 in Johnston.

"As the mom and dad of young children, Gov. DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis know that when parents are engaged, America prospers," an event invitation says. "We need every mama and every grandmama in every corner of the country to stand up and fight back by electing Ron DeSantis president of the United States of America."

Casey DeSantis has already joined her husband at multiple events across Iowa, including most recently at U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst's Roast and Ride fundraiser where she made a statement sporting a leather jacket embroidered with an alligator, the outline of Florida and the phrase, "Where woke goes to die."

Casey DeSantis often speaks at those events, drawing positive responses from many who attend. After she spoke at DeSantis' launch event in suburban Des Moines last month, attendee Dave Wisnieski described her as "a spitfire."

"She's going to be a big asset for him," said Wisnieski, a 60-year-old Clive resident. "She can connect to the common person — having kids, going through a lot of that stuff, humanizing Ron DeSantis."

But this is her first solo event in Iowa. DeSantis' campaign said in a statement that they increasingly expect to deploy Casey as a surrogate in Iowa and beyond.

"First Lady Casey DeSantis is an incredible ambassador for the governor's platform of empowering parents and protecting our children," press secretary Bryan Griffin said in a statement. "She is only just beginning to ramp up her appearances across the country, and we are excited about the support she will continue to build for our Great American Comeback."
