Casey's General Stores has purchased and will rebrand 22 Lone Star Food Stores in North Texas, adding to its extensive portfolio as the third-largest convenience store chain in the US.

The Ankeny, Iowa-based company announced this week that they will take over the 22 convenience stores in a 60-mile radius around Sherman, retaining all existing staff.

Previously, Lone Star Food Stores were awarded “Best Gas Station” and “Best Convenience Store Restrooms” in the Texoma region, contending with Buc-ee's, whose nearest location is in Melissa, on US Highway 75.

The sale between Sherman-based W. Douglass Distributing, Ltd. and affiliates and Casey's will be finalized at the end of November.

W. Douglass Distributing announced they will offload their wholesale businesses, including fuel, in a deal with Colorado-based Offen Petroleum LLC.

“The Lone Star convenience stores are high quality stores located on great corners in fantastic markets. They will also serve as a springboard into the great state of Texas for Casey’s, while still located within our self distribution network," Darren Rebelez, President and Chief Executive Officer of Casey’s General Stores said. "We look forward to bringing our convenience store and food offerings to North Texas soon and welcome the Lone Star team members to the Casey’s family.”
