Cass County roads undergo chip seal

Jun. 7—Cass County roads in Jefferson and Boone Townships will be treated with chip seal on Wednesday.

The roads were originally meant to be treated on Tuesday, but flooding in the northern part of the county pushed the work back a day.

Cass County Highway Department Superintendent Jeff Smith said road closures may cause minor delays in travel.

"Chip seal is a rolling operation so any road closures or delays should generally be brief in nature," Smith said in an email. "Drivers are encouraged to take an alternate route if possible while work is underway."

The roads that will be treated include 525 W. from 900 N. to 1000 N., 400 W. from State Road 16 to 800 N., 350 W. from State Road 16 to 800 N., 275 W. from 800 N. to 900 N., and 100 W. from 800 N. to 900 N.

Smith also added that Northern Avenue at Finnel Drive, west of State Road 17, is open to traffic. He said the surface of the road is currently stone and advised driver to drive carefully.
